AT India is a non-government organization that works with mountain communities of Uttarakhand, offering them innovative alternatives to subsistence agriculture. Its broad mission is to assist village communities in the Western Himalayan eco-region to conserve their natural resources while utilizing these resources and non timber forest products (NTFPs) in a socially equitable, economically efficient and ecologically sustainable manner. The organization operates under the premise that attaining economic and managerial control over their natural resources will instinctively provide local communities the impetus to support long-term biodiversity conservation goals.

OracleTo Strengthen the Sericulture and Beekeeping/Organic Honey Value Chains in District Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand

This program is being implemented by AT India with a grant support from Oracle in Rudraprayag District of Uttarakhand since April 2016. The program has been assisting 2000 households to move from subsistence level agriculture to the commercially viable production of silk and organic honey. The stakeholders have been receiving intensive skills development / capacity building inputs under the new initiative of Oracle and AT India in order to enable stakeholders to act across the silk and organic honey value chains.

RBSIntegrated Livelihood in the Hills of Uttarakhand

The joint venture of AT India and RBS IF, initially launched in 2010 in Rikhnikhal, Jaiharikhal and Nainidanda Blocks of district Pauri Garhwal has been extended in Duggada Block,most recently in July 2016. It has now been covering a total of 31700 forest dependent households of 120 mountain villages of these 4 development Blocks. The stakeholders have been organized into SHGs / Producer Groups (PGs) in order to develop economies of scales in Dairy, Organic Spices, Beekeeping / Organic Honey and Silk Sector in collaboration with DevBhumi Natural Products Producers Co. Ltd (DNPPCL) and Ushamath Mahila Mahasangh Ltd. (UMM). Business Development Service (BDS) and Value Chain Development (VCD) Approach is being applied in all the sectors to ensure the transition of stakeholders from subsistence level cultivation to commercial cultivation

The Hans FoundationSamgra Arthik Vikas Pariyojan (SAVP)

Samagra Aarthik Vikas Pariyojna is the most recent intervention of AT India and The Hans Foundation (THF), being implemented in 60 villages of Jaunsar-Babar of Chakrata Block, District Dehradun, Uttarakhand since July 2016. The program has been working with a focus on securing economic security for more than 1600 participating households in the tribal belt. This initiative aims at assisting the rural producers, in moving the subsistence level dairy, beekeeping and allied activities to the commercially viable level activities through Business Development Service (BDS) and Value Chain Development (VCD) based approach.


SOIRIMEconomic empowerment of women through livelihood augmentation and promoting gender rights’

A holistic program for the women empowerment is under way in Mandal Valley of Chamoli district of the state of Uttarakhand. The program is jointly being implemented by AT India and SOIR_IM projectwith women SHGs, Mahila Mangal Dal and other duty bearers. The program seeks empower women of 36 villages of this valley through livelihood and gender equality measures. Thus the program has been building the capacity of women groups, civil society organization (CSO) on livelihood, gender equality measures and key entitlements.

The above range of activities requires a sufficient range of skills and expertise to execute them. In most of the livelihood sub-sectors that the program is involved, AT India initiatives have invariably been the first of their kind in Uttarakhand. This means that the organization is today a repository of skills and expertise that are unique and not easily replaceable.
