1.Introduction 

Appropriate Technology India (AT India), an Indian NGO registered under the Societies Act 1860 has been working in Uttarakhand since 1994 with dual objectives of biodiversity conservation and economic development. These objectives can be achieved only when the local communities secure economic and managerial control over their natural resources and have access to necessary information technical and financial. support. This incentive motivates them to work actively toward the long-term conservation of these resources This premise continues to inform AT India's strategy to assist village communities in Uttarakhand towards conserving their natural resources and biodiversity while developing economic opportunities through enterprise utilizing natural resources (natural resources-based products and NTFP) in an equitable. economically and environmentally sustainable manner. 

 

 

2. Scope of Work

A. Handloom Machinery

    • Locally built as per Kinnauri practices.
    • Constructed from high-quality Kayal Wood (German Kayal/Chirr) for joints and Saal Wood for inner parts

 Introduction

The Traditional Kinnauri Pit Loom is an indigenous handloom used by artisans in the Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh for weaving traditional woolen products such as shawls, pattus, blankets, and other heritage textiles. The loom is designed to support intricate Kinnauri weaving techniques while ensuring durability, stability, and comfort for the weaver. The proposed pit loom shall be constructed using quality timber and appropriate finishing materials to ensure long-term usability and preservation of traditional craftsmanship.

3. Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a registered supplier/manufacturer of handloom machinery/raw materials.
  • Proven experience in supplying similar machinery/materials to government or NGO projects.
  • Ability to deliver quality products as per specified standards, within stipulated timelines.

 

4. Documents to be Submitted
   Please submit the following along with your quotation:

  • Firm profile / Company registration certificate
  • PAN and GST registration copies
  • Product catalogues / brochures (if available)
  • At least two past work orders or client references
  • Quotation on official letterhead (signed and stamped)

 

5. Delivery Location
Project villages, Kinnaur District, Himachal Pradesh (exact locations to be provided at the time of order placement).

 

6. Terms and Conditions

  • Prices should be quoted inclusive of all taxes, packaging, insurance, and delivery charges.
  • AT India reserves the right to accept or reject any quotation without assigning any reason.
  • The lowest quote will not be the sole criterion for selection; quality and delivery capacity will also be considered.
