Integrated Livelihood Support Project (ILSP)


Introduction

Integrated Livelihood Support Project supported by Uttarakhand Gramya Vikas Samiti & International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) commenced in January 2015 in Chamba block of district Tehri Garhwal and Bhatwari block of Uttarkashi district. Appropriate Technology India (A T India) working as a technical agency under the project. Technical agency refers to that agency which is providing technical assistance to producers in the project area to enhance the production of income generation activities. These activities would lead to enhancement in income of the producers and taking them towards sustainable livelihood.


Objective of the project:


'Reduction in poverty by facilitating rural households to take up sustainable livelihood opportunities integrated with the wider economy'- The project is following group based approach to support the households for financially as well as technically. For broad support and services 6 secondary level institutions have been formed in project area. These institutions are being called as Self reliant cooperative of federations or livelihood collectives and these are registered under Uttaranchal Self Reliant cooperative Act- 2003. Every livelihood collective is having around 50-55 producers groups under it. These livelihood collectives are value chain based and 3 prominent value chains have been identified and validated by the collectives for production and marketing activity.
